“Water-based acrylate (PVDC) anti-corrosion coatings” group standards issued and implemented

Recently, the group standard "Waterborne acrylate (PVDC) anticorrosive coatings"(tcncia 01029-2023) , drafted by AVIC Bermuda New Materials Technology Engineering Co. , Ltd. and Zhejiang Quzhou Giant Plastic Chemical Co. , Ltd. , was approved by the China Coatings Industry Association, 2023 on 1 May.


Waterborne acrylate (PVDC) resin coatings are a new type of functional coatings. After coating formation, due to the good molecular structure symmetry and high crystallinity of PVDC resin, therefore, chloride ion, oxygen, water and other corrosion factors are difficult to move in the coating, so that the coating has excellent barrier function, thus greatly improving the corrosion resistance. This product has very high technology content, its key material PVDC resin emulsion synthesis process is difficult, high investment, long-term monopoly by foreign companies.

The formulation and implementation of the group standard of “Waterborne acrylate (PVDC) anticorrosive coatings” not only fills the gap in the standard of waterborne acrylate (PVDC) resin coatings, it also marks that water-based acrylate (PVDC) coatings have broken through the technical bottleneck and entered a new stage of application and promotion, which will strongly promote the application of water-based acrylate (PVDC) resins in the coatings industry, it is of great significance to promote the innovation of coatings industry and the development of low VOC coatings.
